Corporate Environmental Social Responsibility
Ensuring that we operate sustainably and contribute positively to our communities and the environment.
Our Commitment
We recognise that our operations have an impact not only on the environment but also on the communities we serve. As part of our CESR initiatives, we continually strive to reduce our carbon footprint through sustainable production practices, responsible sourcing, and energy-efficient manufacturing. We also actively support community development and social well-being by engaging in philanthropic endeavours, supporting local causes, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity within our organisation. We are dedicated to not only providing high-quality rendering solutions but doing so in a way that contributes to a more sustainable and socially responsible future for both our industry and the broader community.
On the Path to Net Zero
The reality is that 11% of global emissions come from the production and transportation of building materials, making it clear that the construction industry has a significant role to play in mitigating climate change. The urgent need to reduce emissions to net zero by 2050 underscores the gravity of the situation.
At ecorend, we take our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility to heart. Every decision we make, from product formulations to manufacturing processes, is made with the utmost seriousness and consideration. Our goal is not only to reduce our carbon footprint but also to be a part of the solution, helping to rebalance and rejuvenate our planet and its ecosystems for a thriving and sustainable future.
Sustainably Sourced and Recyclable
Our commitment to sustainability extends to every aspect of our operations. Our ecorend bags and buckets, for example, are designed with multiple environmentally conscious features. They are not only waterproof, which ensures the integrity of our rendering products during transportation and storage, but they also incorporate up to 30% recycled content. This recycling component further reduces our reliance on virgin materials and minimises our environmental impact. What sets our packaging apart is its full recyclability. Unlike plastic-lined paper bags, which pose a higher risk of raw material wastage through packaging damage and often end up in landfills across the UK, our packaging can be efficiently recycled, contributing to the reduction of waste and the promotion of a circular economy.
Moreover, our dedication to sustainability extends to the sourcing of raw materials. Over 90% of our raw materials are locally sourced, reducing transportation-related emissions and supporting UK businesses. This commitment to local sourcing not only strengthens the regional economy but also aligns with our goal to minimise our carbon footprint.
Our products will soon come with comprehensive Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), providing detailed insights into the environmental impacts of our products and enabling customers to make informed, sustainable choices.
In addition to our product and material choices, we’ve implemented energy conservation techniques at our head office and UK manufacturing plant. These measures are aimed at reducing energy consumption and, in turn, our environmental impact. We strive to lead by example, showcasing our commitment to sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations, from production to packaging, and inspiring positive change in the construction industry and beyond.
A Brighter Future
Our commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 is an ongoing and dynamic journey. We recognise that the path to a sustainable future involves continuous improvement and innovation. To this end, we are proactively enhancing and developing our business operations and resourcefulness. This includes investments in solar energy systems to reduce our carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency. We’re also embracing ISO 50001, a standard for energy management, to further enhance our commitment to responsible resource management.
Beyond these internal efforts, we actively engage with local, national, and international environmental initiatives. Collaborating with like-minded organisations and participating in broader environmental efforts allows us to multiply our impact and contribute to positive change on a larger scale. Our commitment to selecting sustainable products and conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner is not just a choice; it’s an imperative for a brighter future.
By embracing sustainability and actively making a difference, we are taking a pivotal step towards a world that is more balanced, eco-friendly, and resilient. We invite you to join us on this journey and collectively turn our shared vision into a reality. Together, we can make a significant difference for the future of our planet.
Low-Carbon Manufacturing & Renewable Innovation
Our dedication to sustainable innovation in construction materials extends far beyond the products we formulate and manufacture – it’s embedded in every facet of our manufacturing process. Situated in Dalton, North Yorkshire, our state-of-the-art facility is a prime example of our commitment to low-carbon, environmentally responsible operations. This facility serves as both the heart of our high-performance production and a benchmark for sustainable practices in the construction industry.
Here, we manufacture cutting-edge products and systems which not only meet the highest standards of quality and durability but are also designed with the environment in mind. By utilising advanced technologies and eco-friendly materials, we minimise waste, reduce energy consumption, and lower our carbon footprint.
