The Essential Base for Breathable Lime Render Systems

ecorend LK11 Lime Key Coat Base is a high-performance preparatory render specifically formulated to provide an ideal key for the application of lime-based top coats such as ecorend Lime Monocouche One Coat Render. It is designed to promote maximum adhesion, manage moisture movement, and enhance the long-term performance of breathable render systems on challenging or variable substrates.

Manufactured with a blend of natural hydraulic lime (NHL), carefully graded aggregates, and advanced polymers, LK11 Lime Key Coat Base strikes the perfect balance between workability, strength, and compatibility. It creates a durable bonding layer that improves the interface between modern masonry, mixed substrates, or dense surfaces and the lime render applied above.

Used as the critical first step in a traditional or sustainable render build-up, LK11 supports the structural integrity of the overall system while helping regulate moisture transfer and prevent delamination or cracking over time.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • The inclusion of NHL makes LK11 breathable and compatible with lime finishes, allowing water vapour to escape while protecting against trapped moisture and related damage.
  • Its high bond strength ensures excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates, including brickwork, blockwork, stone, and certain difficult backgrounds that require enhanced mechanical grip.
  • Carefully designed for use beneath lime render systems, LK11 minimises shrinkage risk and supports a uniform finish, ensuring the topcoat adheres evenly with consistent thickness and stability.
  • With excellent workability, it is easy to apply by hand or machine, reducing time on-site and helping achieve a reliable, high-quality base layer that sets the tone for the final decorative finish.
  • The product is manufactured under strict quality control conditions, delivering predictable, high-performance results every time and supporting the principles of responsible, low-carbon building practices.

Ideal for:

  • Preparing dense or mixed substrates before lime render application
  • Refurbishment and conservation projects
  • Sustainable and breathable wall systems
  • Use with ecorend Lime Monocouche and other NHL-based renders

ecorend LK11 Lime Key Coat Base is the trusted foundation for render systems where performance, longevity, and compatibility matter most. When paired with ecorend Lime Monocouche One Coat Render, it forms a complete system designed to respect traditional building principles while meeting modern construction demands.
