The Benefits of BBA Certified Render

Everything you need to know about BBA approved render systems

British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification is the highest sign of quality in the industry. When you choose a BBA-certified render system, you are choosing a high-performance product that has been thoroughly tested to the upmost quality and compliance standards – giving specifiers, contractors and homeowners assurance and peace of mind.

Here is a practical guide to everything you need to know about BBA approved render products and why certification matters.

What Does BBA Certification Mean?

Certification from the British Board of Agrément (BBA) means a product has been thoroughly independently tested for its performance, durability and safety to the highest national and European standards.

Every year, the British Board of Agrément tests a vast range of construction products, assessing them against a range of different standards. When they deem a product to meet their “mark of excellence”, they award it a BBA certificate to confirm it is fit for purpose and of high quality.

Our most popular ecorend render systems are all BBA approved, and those that have yet to be examined by the British Board of Agrément have all been rigorously tested in our purpose-built laboratory facilities – often to standards even higher than what the BBA test to.

Why Specify BBA Certified Render Systems?

Specifying BBA certified render systems helps you reduce risk on projects. The approval certificate provides documented evidence that the system has been tested to high standards and is suitable for its intended use.

Many manufacturers now publish BBA-backed render systems for common substrates such as concrete blockwork and external wall insulation, making it easy to find a reliable solution to match your project requirements.

For architects, contractors, and homeowners alike, BBA certification is an assurance that your chosen render system meets high standards of performance, safety, and environmental responsibility, making it a trusted choice for quality results.

  • Risk reduction: A BBA certificate can help reduce uncertainty at design and approval stages by providing third party evidence of performance and compliance.
  • Clear installation guidance: BBA certificates list approved substrates and installation conditions, helping prevent failures caused by incorrect application.
  • Market confidence: BBA approval demonstrates that products have been manufactured to high standards, providing the assurance that they will achieve the needs of the client.

How to Verify a BBA Approved Render Product

If you are unsure if a render product is BBA approved, the first thing you can do is check the packaging. Certified products will often include the official BBA logo on product labels and online. The logo is restricted to only be used with approved products.
You should also check the manufacturer’s British Board of Agrément certificate.

Manufacturers will usually have this available on their website, but you can also use the BBA’s own certificate database. At ecorend, you can view our BBA certificates by using the links on BBA-approved product pages or exploring our literature library.
